Chrystille & Ed’s Lifestyle Session

14 years.  Chrystille & Ed have been dating for 14 years.  That’s insanity (and I mean this with all goodness of course). In perspective, when they started dating... google wasn’t even launched yet. This was the time that song, “hit me baby one more time”… came out…  they had to use smoke signals to communicate… OK fine.. that’s not true but you get the idea.  Bottom line is, it’s pretty awesome they have such a history and are about to start their next chapter together in a few months.

On the day of their shoot… we started off their session in the most perfect way imaginable… as they suggested we meet at a greasy spoon brunch joint to grab a bite to eat first. Perfect. I love grease and brunch..haha.   We started off our shoot waiting for some planes to fly over and worked our way east towards the park and the water… literally as you will see in the pics… That being said, I have to say, you both rock for your willingness (being soaked in water..hehe)  to do anything I suggested =)   Before I get into the pics, I just wanted to thank Kathleen for introducing us to this awesome couple (Gi and I are excited to see you / work with you at their wedding) and of course… many thanks to Chrystille and Ed for having Gi and I capture your upcoming big day. Here are some pics.

Anet and Vic’s Lifestyle & Happy a Belated Birthday!!!

It has been one of those weeks where I am up at 6am and back at the studio to editing into the night…if I look back over the past 5 days, we shot a lifestyle session, 3 different 1 year old parties (the sweetest part is, we captured all 3 of these little ones when they were newborns…) a newborn session, client meets, headshot, interior space shoot and manage to squeeze in a 50km Becel Ride for heart and got a chance to watch Gi play Ultimate without subbing for her =) … bottom line... blessed and extremely thankful is the word.

To the main feature… Anet and Vic’s lifestyle shoot.   So we all met downtown Toronto and started off our shoot just roaming the area at St. Lawrence.  Hanging out with Anet and Vic, these guys crack me up… so needless to say, I have a good times shooting them both.  In front of the camera they were totally easy to work with… all happy smiles with Vic =) What I didn’t know until the day of our shoot was it was Anet’s b-day ( If I knew… I would have bought you a cake sister =)) and on that same note… Vic pulled me aside to give me a heads up that he had some gifts for her and wanted me to capture some reactions.

So aside from this being a lifestyle engagement shoot for Anet and Vic, you could also call this B-day photo shoot too.  Towards the end, we headed off to Dundas Square to grab a few shots there.   To my new friends…Many thanks for having me be a part of this build up to your wedding.  Gi and I are totally stoked for the upcoming wedding =) Here are just random pics from our session.

Michelle and Ryan’s Lifestyle Session // Toronto

These past few weeks have been nuts for us, aside from being in the heart of the wedding season (you know it’s wedding season when …every weekend is booked solid for June…) and we’ve been editing away like mad chickens and luckily meeting some awesome couples for 2014.  So the two things I’ve been neglecting have been blogging on a regular and … riding my new bicycle that I bought a few weeks back.. haha..  So it’s early Sat morning and currently gearing up as Gi and I are both shooting today, but at different events.  But before we head out… let me showcase this sweet couple.

Whenever I do these lifestyle shoots, I really get to know the couple. I get to see how they are and after spending some time with them, I can always get a good sense about the couple. That being said… I think Michelle and Ryan are perfect for each other =) For their engagement lifestyle shoot, the couple wanted more nature and greenery and flowers as a back drop.  They also wanted some cherry blossoms and suggested we head over to the water front area. So on the day of their shoot, we meet up uptown first and used some local spots to warm them up in front of the camera. The fun part with Michelle and Ryan is that they are super easy to work with in front of the camera.  I’ve also learned that they are rock climbers, so standing on a pole etc.. is easy peezy for them.  We headed toward the waterfront area for the cherry blossoms but found out that mother nature had blew them off so we improvised a bit  and used what we had in the area for some pics.

To my new friends Michelle and Ryan, Gi and I are stoked and honoured to be capturing your upcoming wedding.  Here are a handful of pics from our session (thanks again for being patient on the last pics... =))

Have an awesome weekend.

Maritess & Ruzen, One week to go!

Talk about a serious go go busy work weekend for us… TGIM… ok fine… that sound weird… but you guys all get where I’m coming from =)

So it’s T-minus 5 days till Maritess and Ruzen’s big day and we’re totally stoked on our end to capture the celebration.   But before that, I wanted to showcase their lifestyle engagement session where they totally lucked out with the weather that day as it snowed the next day.   We met downtown in the heart of Liberty Village and used the buildings and surrounding areas for our photo canvas.   It didn’t take long for them to warm up to the camera… and it was pretty cute stuff that Maritess shook out whatever nervousness Ruzen had (literally shooked em out..hehe).  It also helped that these guys were pretty gung ho for anything… (stand here guys…and let the train come at you… OK..next shot scale the wall.. =)) … much appreciated guys.

Before I get into their lifestyle session, I want to thank my friend Amanda for introducing us to Maritess – Many Thanks!  And of course I want to thank our new friends Maritess and Ruzen for giving us this amazing opportunity and for letting us do what we love this up coming weekend.   Enjoy!

Sharan and Alex – Lifestyle Session // AGO //Skating //Toronto

I looked back at the last week and I still smile thinking about how much fun it was capturing all the celebrations leading up to their big day (or “marathon wedding” as quoted by the groom).  Not for nothing too, after their wedding and being surrounded by delicious Indian food … Gi and I have been killing it with eating Indian food since Monday… I think after 3 days, we finally got our fix =)

But before we get into our marathon post leading up to their big day, I’m going to rewind a bit and start from the beginning when I got a chance to get to know my friends in front of the camera for their lifestyles session, which took place in January. So we finally had a proper winter this year… like the winter I remember as a kid… aka snow and cold… “back in my day it snowed so much, the mayor had to call the army in…” . Given that I wanted to make sure Sharan and Alex didn’t freeze their gluteus maximus off, we started off indoors and worked our way outside.   So off to the AGO we went, despite the fact the place was jam packed, we managed to get some shots in. I quickly realized how great they were in front of the camera.  When we headed outdoors and they strapped on their skates, I got a chance to truly get them in action.   Looking back now, if I were to do this all over again, I would strap into skates too to capture them as I was pretty much stationary with these pics.   Actually… I take that back… the last time was on skates was 15 years ago… hehe…

So lets call this post 1… with many more to come =)

Love Light in Flight // Mark & Marianna

I remember watching the movie Wayne’s World back in the day, they had this airplane landing scene… where the plane lands and almost seems to scrape the top of their heads.  Since then, I always wanted to find a spot to replicate the scene… so needless to say, I was super excited when we all talked about doing this as a part of their lifestyle shoot. OK.. both Marianna and Mark LOVE planes… It was pretty awesome that they totally lead me to the spot, they even had an app to show landing times so we could catch the moment the planes touch down … What was even more crazy?  Mark could name the model of the planes… Ridiculous.

The weather for the shoot that day was pretty erratic but we made the best of it.   Looking back now… it actually added some nice drama …as we pretty much got cloud, sun and rain across the duration of our shoot.

Before I get into the shoot, there is one note worthy thing I want to mention that you can’t see in the pics.  Marianna and Mark are one of the most sincere couples I have met. From the moment I met them together at our initial meeting to this shoot, it has been nothing but fun times.  I have nothing but amazing things to say about this awesome couple… so needless to say, Gi and I are honoured to be choosen and can’t wait for your special day.  Here are just a few of the pics from our shoot.

PS.  Happy Birthday Mark!
