Amanda, Roddy and Noodle + baby bump. Maternity Shoot

I literally cheered out loud when we read that our friends Amanda & Roddy were expecting!   Fast forward 6+ months and I’m stoked to be able to capture this family / maternity shoot for them.  This whole shoot was a win-win scenario..  aside form the shoot itself … we got to do brunch afterwards and spend some quality time.  Gi and Alexis also came down with me,  which was nice.  So when we began our shoot, Gi was strolling around Liberty Village trying to get our daughter to nap.

Aside from capturing pics of Amanda and her baby bump (she looks wicked btw) a good part of this  shoot as you’ll see involved Noodle (as he’s the first baby in the fam).  We did a bunch of portraits and made sure that we got Noodle in pics with the future baby.

Congrats again guys and sorry I wasn’t able to make the shower.   Thank you for this session and thanks for the delicious popcorn… when I saw that in Gi’s car on  Sunday… it was like a life saver to my starving stomach =) Can’t wait to meet the little one.

Portfolio Shoot

Remember a few weeks back when the weather was crazy, crazy hot, and you basically had two options.. stay inside somewhere with the AC and stay hydrated or schedule a photo shoot outdoors and melt along with the model… I chose the latter of course =)

I’m a lifestyle photographer and in any given situation, I would rather use the outdoor environment as a background.  Every spot, every nook… every place can give a sense of the environment and create a mood. When Wayne contacted me regarding a portfolio shoot, I specifically chose a spot that complemented the look we wanted to achieve – and in this case I chose the back alleys of Liberty Village.

For the session, it was a HOT day… and even scheduling the shoot in the evening,  didn’t allow us to run away from the heat. But in the end, it worked out well.  I got to know Wayne during the shoot and aside from the obvious – being a good looking dude and built like a tank (this was one shoot I had zero fear of a bystander wanting to jack my gear) like myself, he’s driven in life by passion and determination.   There something to be said for someone that been training for 10 years + and has an end goal determined.  Enough with the blabbing on my end.. here are some pics from our session.

Jacqueline & Darshi Lifestyle Engagement Session

Before I even met Jacqueline and Darshi in person, I knew they are good people.  Last year when I was heading downtown for the initial meet, I remember getting a call from Jacqueline asking if I wanted food… as her and Darshi where grabbing some take out.  I know it’s a simple gesture… but it shows how really kindhearted these people are.

To the shoot.   This was the first shoot to kick off our 2011 wedding season and it was good times.  Gi went downtown earlier in the day scouting out all the locations for the session and she found some wicked spots.  As we all know the Toronto weather has been super wonky and unpredictable but it held out for that day, except the night ending with a little snow and bitter chills…oh and a rock concert…but it was all fun times with no complaints.

Before we let the pics do the talking, we really want to extend our sincere thanks to Lili Mancini, the owner of Cinquecentro Trattoria Restaurant located in Liberty Village as she saw us outside shooting and offered her beautiful restaurant to warm up and to get a few shots – again… kind hearted people.  I hope you got the cakes I sent your way.

Last but not least, thank you to both Jacqueline and Darshi for this opportunity – you guys are jokes….good times and great memories! – we’re stoked about your upcoming wedding.  Hope you enjoy some of the pics.

Thanks,

Leon & Gi

Learn to make Sushi and help Japan.

I can’t even image how the situation is right now in Japan with the post earthquake and the Tsunami and all the aftermath. In times like this every little donation helps especially if we each contribute it can help bring relief faster. Liberty Noodle a restaurant in the heart of Liberty Village, Toronto decided to hold an event 2 weeks back. It was an opportunity to have master sushi chef teach people about Sushi and how to make Sushi. The best part about it was that the proceeds went to help Japan. Gi and I where asked to document the jam packed event– great to see. Not only do you get to take an awesome class but you also can perform an act of kindness, get a little and give a little. Check out their website (www.libertynoodle.com) as I know they are holding another course this Saturday – fun times for a date… fun times in general. Gi and I would totally attend this time around, but its wedding season =) Below are some images from the event and the delicious end results.

Thanks,

Leon
