Ashley + Mike… See you guys tomorrow!

At the Distillery there’s this huge art installation called “Still Dancing”… which we ended up using for this couple’s engagement pics …as it is pretty fitting since Ashley runs a dance studio.  Ok..truth be told, I had no clue the name of that installation until I googled it… hehe

I was introduced to this cool couple from our friend Bernadette (http://www.serendipityandco.ca) whom Gi and I met when we shot Anet and Vic’s wedding.  Our first meeting was at Ashley’s dance studio in Mississauga last year where we got a tour of their beautiful studio.  Fast forward one year and we’re stoked to shoot their wedding tomorrow!  For their lifestyle shoot, we met at the Distillery District where it was super fun capturing this fun couple.  These guys are totally easy going which always makes my job that much easier.

I’m pretty stoked about tomorrow’s wedding shoot.. as their venue is somewhere new for us + excited to see this awesome couple. Thanks so much to Bernadette for keeping us in mind and of course to Ashley and Mike for having us capture your big day -  see you guys all tomorrow.

Angela and Danny Married. Copper Creek Wedding

This entry comes from a café half way around the world in Hong Kong as I’m working away on my vacation (if my daughter was old enough to speak.. her and her mommy would be yelling at me right now)…but I digress. Since it’s Nov 11 in Toronto right now ,  I can’t help but be thankful to all the soldiers that fought for our freedoms.  Ironically, I look across the street and I can see hundreds of people protesting day and night for the same democracy we take for granted.  As I’m forever playing catch up on our site, we head into our October wedding shoots, featuring Angela and Danny.

I’m really excited to share these pics from Angela and Danny’s wedding for many reasons.   One, as I got to know them in the year leading up to their wedding, I found them to be such sweet and genuine people.   Not only that but I can say that this was one of my favourite weddings this year. It is always fun when you see the bride and groom really enjoying themselves … and that, in m opinion, makes an awesome wedding.

So there are a few things about their wedding that were pretty noteworthy.  Angela’s parent’s home is really nice - More so… according to the family.. the house was quickly renovated just in time for Angela’s big day.  Ironically I can relate as we didn’t do anything to our home for 5 years and the moment our daughter was about to arrive, we started painting and installing “real” curtains… must be a daughter of the house thing.  There were so many sentimental aspects in the pics that I appreciate – Formal pics were done at Angela’s parent’s home in their beautiful backyard. Angela’s veil was from her Mom’s wedding.. which was pretty sweet and the Cadillac they took to the church belongs to her grandfather.

Before we get to the pics to story tell their day,  I wanted to sincerely thank both Angela and Danny for being such a fun couple that made our jobs so enjoyable.  Thanks to my friend and teammate Kevin C for working hard on this shoot with me.

P.S.  Unlimited Ten Ren BBT…is such a good thing to have at the end of a wedding shoot, thanks again guys!

Var and Anderson Married. West River Event Centre Wedding

If you follow us on Instagram, you might notice that I’ve been posting a lot of street photography pics of Asia. For me, street photography is something I love shooting and sharing. It brings me peace like a athlete and its like training as it hones me to be a better wedding photographer.   I’ll  always advocate this… if you want to become a better/wedding photographer.. do street photography.  It’s late at night for me right now in my part of the world and I’m sitting in our hotel room while mom and baby are sleeping excited to finally share this wedding.

Var and Anderson was the last of our back to back September weddings. This was a much anticipated wedding for me as I’ve been in constant communication with Anderson from the day they gave us this wonderful opportunity.  On their wedding day I was also pretty stoked especially since I got to see our mutual friends Allen and Michelle.  On their wedding day they packed a lot of events into their itinerary and everything was executed perfectly. On that note, special thanks to Christine March (www.imprintwedding.ca) and her team for coordinating their day, Harvey & Roger Tam (www.rovey.ca) for their impeccable catering, Carla Abramovici (tradesensationevents.com) for the gorgeous décor (awesome seeing you again!) and to Norris Wong’s Team (www.norrisfilms.com) for their awesome SDE.

Since we carefully chose the pics to tell their story, I won’t go into the specific details of their day and let the pics do the talking. One note worthy and talented mention was a special guest that attended / participated in their wedding.  I remember when Anderson wrote me an email telling me about a singer named Kathleen Nguyen and how they thought she would be a perfect musical talent for their day. Fast forward to their wedding and they were totally right. Her voice added so much to the feel of their day and definitely made the SDE that much more emotional.

I want to thank our good friend and teammate Kevin C for shooting along side me and also to thank Anderson and Var for having us on their special day.

Amy and Gary Married. Hilton Suites Markham Wedding

Coincidentally as I’m uploading Amy and Gary’s pics, I’m also looking for a flight to Taiwan on my other monitor and recall Gary’s speech.  I think he said to Amy back in the day that she’s the only person he knew that was “made in Taiwan”… I know... totally random way to intro this post.

Amy and Gary’s wedding was part of our September back to back weddings.  This was a sweet wedding since it was an intimate event, not too big and not too small.  The bride and groom definitely spent a lot of thought in narrowing down their friends and family list along with all the little details which was a true reflection of them.  As an awesome example, Amy and Gary fave bubble tea is Chatime, which was why it was perfect for them to cater in Chatime for all their guests as a part of the dessert.  Kevin and I definitely enjoyed this personal touch.   Another note worthy point was that they had Psy perform at their wedding. Yes. Psy.. like Gangnam style Psy.

As we’re continuing to process the rest of the pics, I want to share with you a carefully select number of images to tell their story. I want to thank Kevin for shooting this wedding with me and I want to sincerely thank Amy and Gary for having us capture their awesome day.  Enjoy!

P.S. Saxx are awesome.

Monica & Veneet’s Wedding. 2 Awesome Days.

It’s funny what we consider the norm since obviously it’s based on what we are used to.  I had a wedding prospect meeting last night and as we were talking about their guest list …the couple was saying they really couldn’t grasp the concept of a small wedding. She said they only have been to weddings where there is min 600 people.  On the flipside, as I’m writing this blog entry at a locale café, a random onlooker (aka the person that won’t stop staring at my screen while I edit) and I got into conversation about this post and the pics.  She moved her chair closer to me  and started saying how she has never seen a Indian wedding and was blown away by the colours that a wedding event could be several days.  So if you have been following our postings, we’re finally uploading the main event of Monica and Veneet’s wedding which took place over the course of two days.

I think one of the most beautiful parts that stood out for us at this wedding was capturing the mix of emotions. There was so much energy during the day from dancing and cheering to tears of sadness / joy. I won’t write out the events that happened during the course of the two day wedding as again I’ll let the pictures tell the story.  What I do want to quickly say is that I’m grateful for this experience and thankful to my friends Monica and Veneet for having us basically capture the month of August for them =) Special thanks my friend / teammate Kevin C for shooting along side with me for both these days.  As we continue to process the rest of the pictures, here are a some pics from their wedding day.

Susheila & Ross’s Wedding – Broiler House Loft, Distillery District

Before I get into this wonderful wedding, I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.   This wedding was easily one of my favorite wedding’s we captured this year.  Not for nothing, there’s an unfair advantage because Sush and Ross are friends of mine.  More specifically what I loved the most about this wedding is how genuine their love is for one another.  Sush and Ross, you guys make such a great couple and I’m truly so happy that you both.

I’m not going to chronologically write what happened at their wedding as the story will tell itself through the pictures. But there are a few parts I wanted to highlight as I was so impressed by the thoughtfulness.   First off, when Kevin and I looked at the itinerary together, we where pretty stoked to see door games.  Thinking about it now, I think this was the first wedding this year that had traditional Chinese door games.  All the groomsmen rocked.. and they did an awesome job as you’ll see in the pics.

Another moment worth mentioning was Sush and Ross’s first reveal – it was pretty heartwarming. Again.. I’ll used the word genuine love to describe them.    Sush impressed both Kev and I as she had memorized her entire itinerary and had everything planned to the minute.  This was not surprising as she does wedding planning.  I’m kinda jealous that she could be so hands on.. if only a photographer can ever photograph an event with themselves in it…

Their wedding was held in the Distillery District, at the Broiler House Loft.  This venue and all the little touches they added were so them and perfect.    As always I want to thank my friend and teammate Kevin C for all his hard work. To my friends Susheila and Ross, congrats again guys.  Thank you so much to you both for having us capture your amazing day. Here are some pics to bring back some awesome memories.
