Sunny morning lifestyle shoot // Connie & Mike + I&R

Everything about this shoot was good times. Connie and Mike were super easy going, spring was here, and of course I appreciated the fact that Mike’s son came along for the shoot with their awesome dog. The most perfect combo.

We all met at Evergreen Brickworks on a Saturday morning and for those of you that haven’t been on a weekend, it’s usually pretty busy as they have a farmers market. So we did our best to avoid the crowds and headed towards the conservation areas first. Having the whole fam there was fun to shoot. We started getting pics of everyone and in between we pulled I&R aside and just focused on Connie and Mike… (giving a chance for Mike’s son to laugh hysterically at them when they got a little mushy in front of the camera). We ventured around the area and worked with the gorgeous backdrop of mother nature. It was hot, sunny and bright that morning, but this didn’t bug anyone one bit which was awesome.

As we are heading into the month July, this means this couple’s wedding is coming up… we can’t wait. I want to sincerely thank Connie and Mike for this fun shoot and for introducing me to both I&R – can’t wait to see all of you at the wedding! Thanks so much and here are just a few pics from your session. Enjoy!

From Boston to Toronto // Andrea & Ian’s Lifestyle Shoot

I remember Andrea and Ian’s initial meeting specifically since it was one of my first of many handful of meetings done over Skype that fell on the same week. While video conference is probably the norm for all my corporate friends, this is something new to me… as I usually do a face to face meet. I actually kinda dig it… I can get used to wearing no pants while presenting… jk =)

As the title suggests, both Andrea & Ian live in Boston but they are having their wedding in Toronto. For this engagement shoot, we timed everything where both Andrea and Ian would be in town. So on the day of the shoot, they wanted something representing Toronto and the beach (as Ian’s a beach person). We started off at the Distillery District and worked around that area before heading over to the beach as planned. It was super hot and sunny that afternoon but it totally didn’t interfere with the two of them. In front of the camera, Andrea and Ian are lots of fun. Captain obvious also notes that Ian is a beast! (the work out type).. which obviously makes him looks like he towers over Andrea =)

So t-minus one week and a bit till the wedding and we can’t wait. I want to send a special thanks to our mutual friend Kathy for the warm intro and for the constant support. To my new friends, Andrea and Ian, here are some pics from our shoot. Thanks as always and see you guy’s next week!

Katherine + Aaron. The count down begins!

I remember on the day of this shoot, the very first thing that came to mind when I started shooting Katherine and Aaron that these guys are Peeeerfect for each other. I met with Katherine a few times before but I never got a chance to meet with Aaron until the shoot.

So with these lifestyle sessions, I always try to work my magic and capture each couple in their most comfortable state with one another …to really get a natural shot. Sometimes it takes a little warming up (which is totally normal) and other times, like this, the magic just happens. So that being said, capturing Katherine and Aaron was fun times for me as they are pretty entertaining together. We all met up in front of Steam Whistle, which worked out perfectly, as Aaron was in town for a conference that was right near this location. The weather worked out perfectly too since we ended our shoot just before it started getting wet outside.

I sincerely want to thank my friend Elaine for introducing me to her cousin Katherine. To my new friends Katherine and Aaron, we’re super stoked to capture your wedding in T-minus a week and change. Thank you both so much guys and here are a few pics from our session.

Var & Anderson’s Lifestyle Engagement Session

I did a good amount of outdoor shoots for the month of December. Every time one of our clients request a wintertime shoot, I give them props and I prepare to freeze as we know how cold it has been the past few months. Gi and I met Anderson originally at Allen and Michelle’s wedding back in 2012 (werd up guys!) and was thrilled when Anderson and Var contacted us regarding their upcoming big day.

So on the day of their shoot… looking back at these images don’t let the pics fool you. No snow or sometimes no jackets did not mean it wasn’t flipping cold that day but they did a great job thinking warm thoughts =) We started off in the heart of downtown Toronto by Steam Whistle Brewery, worked a little outdoors, and then jumped inside so we could to warm up for a bit. We ended off our shoot by the waterfront area, which was kinda cool (no pun intended), since it felt like a closed set for just the two of them. To my friends Var & Anderson, this was a fun part 1 of getting to know you guys in front of the camera, can’t wait to the summer for the big part 2 =) Here are a few pics from our session.

Tina + Reggie // The Countdown Begins

My first entry for 2014 and if I do the finger counting thing, it has been 8 years now that I don’t take for granted everyday how blessed I am for the support from everyone around me that got me to where am I - in being able to do what I love for a living. I am humbly thankful.

You know the saying the calm before the storm, for Tina and Reggie’s lifestyle engagement shoot, we shot this a day before the ice storm in Toronto.  Looking back now, it would have been pretty pimp if we got some pics with the all the ice.. or it would have been some dangerous times. Either or, it didn’t really matter, Tina and Reggie are a really a beautiful couple that can make any surrounding work as you’ll see in the pics.   So on the day of the shoot, we met downtown and I planned to use a mix of indoor and outdoor since it was winter and that day...it was mostly raining all day. What I really loved about the both of them was for the outdoor pics was that the rain didn’t bug them one bit.  From a photography perspective, I looooove wet surroundings.. it makes a pic that much more sexy… (random Leon Chai fact.. I once spent 5 hours splashing water on a streets (one small bucket at a time) for a film set to create that wet look)

Tina and Reggie are really perfect in front of the camera and it’s one of those, when they are together it seems so natural.  We are excited to kick off our first wedding this month with this awesome couple.  Thank you both and here are some pics from our shoot.
