1st birthday / Smash Cake

There’s nothing that makes me happier then capturing these events for friends. M&R are close friends of Gi and I and we absolutely love their cute daughter. She’s like my dumpling house buddy, where for whatever reason, we always end up eating there together all the time (ironically enough, it’s the same place we met last week when I gave them their pics..hehe)

I’ve been to other events from this family, so I pretty much know what to expect. The mom is pretty on the ball and when it comes to details, décor and dessert as you’ll see in the pics. The party was held at The Peanut Club where all of the birthday girl’s friends had a blast. After the event, we headed back to the grandparent’s home to do a cute smash cake which worked out perfectly.

To our friends R&M, much love guys and thanks for having me capture A’s first b-day event. See you guys at the next dumpling house / dim sum event.

You Friend, Leon

Celebrating One Year

It’s been a busy few months for us with a lot of great captures that I’m finally getting a chance to play catch up on posting. I’m excited to post a handful of awesome first year celebrations along with newborns and of course hitting full swing into our wedding season. So before I head out this morning (actually just got back from an early ride.. can’t feel my fingers still) as we have a busy a day ahead of us, I wanted to post this cute first birthday celebration of this handsome little fella.

Little man C parent’s went all out for his son’s first birthday. This private party was held at a sweet and perfect place where all of C’s family and friends were able to celebrate with him. One of the spotlights of C’s party was the killer dessert table made by C’s aunt Maureen, all themed with Sesame Street characters. Maureen you got some mad delicious talent! As you will see in the pics was that there was so much love for this little guy from all of his friends and family.

To my friends Dave and Elna, love seeing you both and thanks always for having me capture these special events for your family. Gi and I are stoked about Carter’s upcoming brother and can’t wait to meet the little guy when the time comes =) Here are some pics from the party as the rest are on your way.

A Taekwondo Style Party! // Z’s 5th Birthday

My friends R&A have had some great and fun ideas when it comes to their son’s birthday party and trust me I have pics to prove it =) This year was no exception as it was action packed and again Z and all of his friends had an amazing time. For Z’s 5th birthday, they held the party at Champion’s Taekwondo Studio. The studio has a gorgeous high ceiling loft feel with tons of natural light. The location for this party was in Forest Hill but I’ve also been to their other location recently as well. So for all my parent friends who are reading this, consider this as an awesome idea if you’re planning a party for your kids. I also know of a photographer I could recommend too if need be =) Check out their website HERE

So on the day of his party, it was great seeing Z and R&A as always. I was so impressed with Z’s skillset when it came to Taekwondo. He is clearly an active member of the club and got to show his peers some moves (congrats’s on the recent orange belt buddy!) The instructors were pretty awesome and had everything lined up for all of Z’s friends from a super huge jumping castle, mini TKD, piñata contest to delicious pizza.

To my friends R&A, I can’t thank you guys enough for the years of support of having me capture all the important milestones in your family life. You guys are the best. Here are some pics from the awesome party.

So much love for this little man… Happy First Birthday S!

You know what’s awesome about this first b-day party.. it is the fact that if this was his 25th b-day this party it still would have been just as pimp.  So let’s see… S’s party was in a fancy hotel, there was a race car, race track, amazing food,  tons of friends and family …Mercedes coupe as a gift. I would love a party like this… haha.

All fun and games aside, I was super impressed with this car themed party and most importantly, it was amazing  seeing baby S hit this milestone year.  I mean the last time I saw him was at his super cute newborn shoot (see here).   To my friends H&R, you guys are the best for always keeping me in mind for these special occasions – thank you.  Happy belated b-day to your little man and here are some pics from his awesome party.

Happy First Birthday J!

We had a pretty fun and intense past weekend starting off with an awesome, awesome  wedding shoot on Saturday and with less then 5 hours of sleep afterwards,  Gi and I did the Spartan Race up in Barrie the next morning.  The race was fun but personally we were more beat up, body wise, from carrying 30lbs+ of camera equipment in the heat while crafting pics in dress clothes for 13 hours =). We call this the ChaiChang Race =)

I was so excited when K emailed me about capturing J’s first birthday party.  The last time I saw them both was when baby J was a few weeks old and we had our photo session (see posting here).  It’s kind of hard to explain but to have the opportunity to capture a milestone year for someone I took newborn pics of is a super rewarding feeling.  So when I showed up it was craaaaazy how much baby J had grown (like a little walking doll she was) and how even more adorable she is.  As I started capturing her party, it was awesome to see all the cute details…especially the monkey theme with all the talent and skill that went into making / decorating the desserts   =)   There was tons of family and friends there that day celebrating J’s first birthday and the weather held off just long enough for people to enjoy the patio and BBQ food.

Thank so much K for keeping me in mind for your daughter’s first birthday celebration… you both look amazing and so great seeing you guys + the familiar faces =)  Here are just a few pics from the day.

Smash the cake… smash the cake!

Happy Friday everyone!  We’ve been pretty busy these last few weeks with shoots, meetings and the never ever ever ending of editing… =)  So as I’m charging up 100+ batteries right now for this weekend shoots, I thought I would share this awesome first birthday event!

When M first contacted me, there was tons of buzz words that caught my eye in her email... “first birthday”, “we have a puppy”, “smash cake”… all fun stuff.   So when we finalized the date, I was so glad we weren’t booked as this was such a cute family event.  On the day of Baby N’s party, I got there earlier and did family lifestyle shoot first before the guests arrived for N’s B-day party.  I couldn’t tell by looking but M&N told me that Baby N had a rough night sleeping (he probably was too excited for his par tee… ) but all of them had great spirits and were fun in front of the camera.   Here’s a random thought that relates to the smash the cake pics you’ll see below.  It was pretty cool seeing the older generation being so fascinated and excited to see the concept of Baby N.. smashing the cake.. but when I look back at my childhood, I think we all at one point dove into the cake unintentionally – or was it just only me? Haha..

To my new friends.. M&N+C+ Baby N… Thank you all so much for having me capture your family and this special milestone of for your son.  Here are just a handful of pics from that day, enjoy!
