Lama and Rashad, Wedding at Berkeley Church

This wedding from beginning to end and it felt like one big party (and hey.. that’s the way it should be!) This couple flew into Toronto from Abu Dhabi to celebrate their wedding with all their Toronto friends and family. I had never met Lama or Rashad before this day…or even seen a picture of them.. so it was kinda funny showing up asking “are you the bride?”. Luckily both Lama and Rashad are such sincere and kind people making them super easy to work with. Not to mention the fact that it didn’t hurt that they are a great looking couple.

Arab weddings rock. I always enjoy documenting them since there is always tons of dancing and music.  When we got to the Berkeley, Lama and Rashad’s entrance was lead by a group of dancers and live performers.  Pretty dope.  We had a small window to do formal pics and we totally utilized the cool space at Berkeley Church and its surroundings. Since this was later in the evening, it kind of worked to our advantage since there wasn’t any harsh sunlight like our usual mid afternoon shoots.

We had fun at this wedding and I want to thank my new friends Lama and Rashad for having us capture their special event! I also want to thank Kathy from Berkeley for being so on the ball with things and keeping us informed of every move.  Lama and Rashad, here are some pics from your event. Hope you had a great time in Toronto!

Trash the Dress. Family Edition.

This was such a fun family/trash the dress shoot. When I came home and told Gi about this shoot, she loved the idea and was totally down to do something like this with our kids.  T&A  (the parents) are so creative and fun,  not to mention super easy going which is why this worked out so well.  This was actually a part 2 of a shoot (which I’ll post soon) that initially started off with their daughter’s cake smash / family session.   We took the opportunity to trash the dress just down the street from their family home by the ravine.  The outcome… everyone had a blast and super cool pictures. I think this is the way to go instead if storing the dress in a box =)

Many thanks for T&A for having me do this and great seeing you guys again.

Grace and Eric Married. Arcadian Court Wedding

This is totally random but these wedding pics literally traveled with me around the world to Asia. I usually back up all my files on and off site… but didn’t get a chance to do the offsite since I had to hop on plane in the early am right after their wedding. So… second best thing, I figured I would carry them with me.

This was a wonderful wedding in so many ways. From Grace and Eric being such great peoples to capturing all the cool locations and little details that made this a gorgeous wedding. I loved that Eric wore his uniform to his wedding. This was stellar. I loved that Grace got ready wearing her custom-made Hui- Tang Jay’s jersey and of course she looked amazing in her dress. The morning started off with door games which is always fun for everyone. After the loving first reveal, we walked over to a location that Grace found for us to do their wedding party pics. The spot was gorgeous and the bonus part was that it was conveniently located.

After their perfect ceremony (ironically held at Grace Church on the Hill) we headed over to Arcadian Court. This was large wedding with a guest count of almost 400 people. It was super cool that Eric made the back drop for their head table and it was an even more memorable story since it was a team effort that went into hanging it. Their centre piece giveaways were pretty unique and special as it came from Kenya where Grace had recently visited.
I want to thank my friend Maurice for shooting this event with me. I especially want to thank both Eric and Grace for having me capture this beautiful day. Here are just a few pics I wanted to share with you as we edit the rest.

Wedding at Balzac’s Coffee – Nahid & Jay Married

This was a nice start to the Spring / Summer wedding season… being a smaller wedding that was held at Balzac’s Coffee in the Distillery District.  I met Nahid in the afternoon at the Grand hotel where she was getting ready. She was pretty much ready when I got there and she looked gorgeous as you’ll see in the pics.  I took off right after and met up with Jay to set him up for their first look – his reaction was awesome.

Doing the formals pics was fun… just the three if us using the space of the distillery for pics.. really calm and relaxing.  We got back to Balzac where the space was transformed to have their ceremony.  The ceremony was perfect and the great thing about having a smaller wedding is that it was such an intimate feel.

The evening had great food and speeches and personally I learned a great deal about both Jay and Nahid.   There’s a part 2 to this wedding that I’m excited to capture in July – a tiny bit bigger =) See you guys then and here are some pic from your wedding. Have a great weekend.

Nahid and Jay – The Family E-Session

Since my last post, we have been doing A LOT of travel for work both internationally and domestically. I have tons of cool shoots that I want to share.  Here’s the most recent lifestyle shoot of my friends Nahid and Jay.  Let me back track a bit.  I met Nahid and her wonderful son a few years back from a family shoot I did for them.  Loved the shoot and them… really good peoples. When she told me she was getting married this year and the details… I knew I wanted to shoot their wedding.   This was especially the case after I met Jay, these two are both such kind souls.  So I’m really happy I got to do this for my friends.

This was a fun shoot. I’m glad Nahid and Jay decided to get the boys involved…these kids are great.  We wandered around Steam Whistle brewery and worked our way around downtown before they all headed off to a special b day celebration up in the 360 restaurant at the CN Tower.  Thanks so much guys and here are some pics!

Melissa and Dan Married. Eglinton Grand Wedding

My month leading up to Melissa and Dan’s wedding was pretty nuts.  I was on an assignment half way around the world doing a commercial shoot in Shanghai and Vietnam...and was scheduled to come back a day before their wedding.  Since I didn’t want any chance of missing this important day, my amazing travel advisor (aka Gi) booked the craziest itinerary back for me. I’m talking 3am departures, multiple stop over’s and being up for 20 hours all to create an extra day of buffer.  Like I said, I did not want to miss this event.  I personally think, the itinerary back could have been payback on Gi’s end for me leaving her with the kids.. JK.

So this was our first wedding for the 2017 season and it was a great one.  Melissa and Dan are really fun and easy peoples… pretty entertaining to capture all day too.  It’s also nice that I know Melissa brother and sister in-law and their adorable kids, which made this day even better.  Some really cool parts about this wedding was that we lucked out with the weather. We got some of that perfectly misty snowfall which made for some awesome winter wedding pics.  I also loved how we made a stop at Dan’s family restaurant (Spiga) and did a run and gun styled shoot there.  As you’ll see in the pics, we also used De La Salle school as a photo location...which was a pimp spot.

I want to thank my friend Kevin C for shooting this wedding with me. I want to also thank my friend Rob and Jo for all their hospitality throughout the day. Last but not least, I sincerely need to thank to my friends Melissa and Dan for having us capture your amazing day. Hope you both had an amazing time in South Africa for your honeymoon, the pics looked awesome.
