Our Baby Girl

So it has been 15 days since the birth of our child. It has been a whirlwind romance that started from that first ultrasound when we found her heartbeat and she was just a little pea. This is one of the reasons that we still call her our little sweet pea.

Since we have been home for the last 8 days, it has been a lot of lessons learned for Leon, my mom, and I. I have to say that I am thankful and grateful to have so much help during these first few weeks. I have so much more respect for my own mother who was a single mom raising me. This job is hard and harder when you are broken the first couple of weeks after giving birth. The other lucky part is that I have a husband who is around to help me out since his schedule is flexible. As the saying goes it takes a village to raise a child and I now know that to be so true.

We have been preparing for our baby girl since we found out about her existence. There are so many things that we have worked on in the house that we have kept in limbo for the last six years. For instance, we actually finished another room in the house aka the nursery, upgraded ourselves from paper curtains to real curtains, and custom closets for baby and mommy (Thanks Daddy!).

As a new mom, I am in love with my baby girl. I know that she is a crazy crying helpless little thing but she is just so adorable. What makes her adorable other than the fact that she is precious and tiny. She is adorable because she is a product of commitment and love between Leon and myself. We have so much hope for her future and can only pray that we raise her in a way that she will be able to make good decisions going forward. As for now, I will just appreciate the little fleeting moments of love that we get to share.

As the theme of our nursery goes, “All you need is love”.

Katherine + Aaron // Black Creek Pioneer Village Wedding

I had this blog entry ready for the longest time and when I wanted to put this post up, our daughter decided it was time for her arrival. Sorry for the delay and now to the feature event.

I mentioned this before in my engagement shoot post for Katherine and Aaron, and I echo the same sentiments again after watching them enjoy their wedding - I think this couple is peeeerfect for each other. On the day of their wedding, I started off at Katherine’s place where the house was jam packed with family and friends. Kevin was with Aaron that morning and we all met up at Black Creek Pioneer Village afterwards. I was pretty excited about shooting at this venue since it has that nostalgic factor. I think the last time I came here was in grade 6.

Katherine and Aaron had a beautiful outdoor ceremony, which worked out perfectly since the weather was great that day. We headed around the grounds afterwards and used the various settings for pics. I found one part that was pretty ironic as one of the pilgrims went out of character and stopped Aaron in his tracks asking if he was a doctor and continued to thank him as he did a amazing operation on her daughter’s foot. That’s pretty awesome.

Before heading to the hall, the groom had one request if we could take a picture of his Mustang. Being a car guy, you had me at Mustang. The night reception had such a great energy from both sides of the family. The entertainment was awesome (Katherine’s brother in law can sing!) and everyone was participating in all the games and the dance floor.

I want to thank my friend Elaine again and it was awesome seeing you at the wedding. I want to thank Kevin for capturing this event with me and of course, I want to sincerely thank Katherine and Aaron for having us capture your awesome wedding. Here are just a handful of pics to visually story tell your day. Thanks and see you guys soon.

A&M’s beautiful new addition to their family

It’s funny, a few weeks before their shoot and before their beautiful daughter was born, Gi and I ran into A&M when we were shopping in prep for our daughter’s arrival. So when I got the text that the family was home, we set up a date and I arrived at their home to meet and capture some pics of their daughter.
Baby H is a cutie. She has so many expressions and capturing her was easy peasy. We started off in their sweet nursery they prepared for her and worked our way around the house and outside for a bit.

To my friends, A&M – thanks so much again for having me capture this sweet life stage in your family. I’m sure your little one has grown a lot in the last few weeks, but here are some pics when she was only a week old to bring back some memories.

Monica and Veneet’s Engagement

Monica & Veneet are a pretty awesome couple that you’ll be seeing many more special event pictures that leads to their wedding day in August. For their engagement celebration, we all met up a little earlier at one of my favorite locations that I’ve been itching to use for pics – and they happen to be the lucky chosen couple.

After having some fun in front of the camera we headed over to JJ Swagat where their engagement celebration / Pooja took place. The ceremony was on the stage and they coupled it along with amazing food and entertainment from multiple dancers. It was great that I got a chance to capture this event as I got to meet both sides of the family and which means I will be seeing e familiar faces over the next coming months with all the events that we will be capturing.

I want to thank my insanely talent friend Shikha Bedi (Henna By Shikha) for recommending us and of course our new friends Monica & Veneet. You guys and your family rock for doing your best in having us capture every special event leading up to your wedding – thank you and we’re honoured. To start off, here are some pics from the engagement. See you guys soon.

One big happy family.

There’s probably only one major thing that sucks about my job – the work hours. It’s not the long hours but it’s the fact that we work on the complete opposite schedule of our friends and family which makes it hard to see people.

M&L and close friends of mine that I don’t see enough of in person. So I was super happy when I heard their family was expecting another addition and was thrilled to capture pics for them. I think for this shoot, I spent an equal amount of time playing catch up as well as taking pics of their beautiful family. Their new addition to the family is super cute and it’s awesome that he has a big brother.

To my friends M&L, always love seeing you guys and thanks so much for this shoot and for your generosity to Gi and I. We’re both extremely happy for your family and will definitely see you guys soon.

Much love, Leon

Minh & Laurence Married! Atlantis Ontario Place

This wedding kinda threw me off and definitely not in a bad way, let me explain. So we’re lucky every year that we get to capture so many weddings and work with a multitude of couples. And when it comes to our clients, there are some that I literally talk to every other day and some I only hear from on the week of the wedding…. all good either way. Minh and Laurence fall in the latter category - the totally relaxed super nice- “go with the flow” kind of couple. I used the line “go with the flow” as I’m quoting the bride’s answer to me when I asked about doing the formal pics…see super chill.

So that being said, I was thrown off because this wedding was pretty insane with all the gorgeous details – which one would usually think would mean a type A type of bride and groom. So hats off to the both Minh and Laurence for being so relaxed on their wedding day, and obviously kudos to the wedding planners that helped to take on the stress =)
I started off in the morning with Minh where she was getting ready with her family and friends. It was fun times in the morning for me with everyone there. I met up after with Kevin C at the Old Mill where he was with Laurence and the guys. They had an outdoor ceremony which was picture perfect followed by a lunch reception at the Old Mill. We took some pics around the Old Mill and headed off to Atlantis Pavilion.

So.. I know Atlantis pretty well. Shot there many times... it was actually our venue for when Gi and I got married. This décor was off the chain. Actually everything was awesome. What was even more crazy was the fact that it seemed like every vendor had their own photographer on site to capturing their own details. No joke. More importantly, what Kevin and I capture that night was all happy faces of everyone enjoying this perfect wedding.

Before we get to the pics, I want to thank our mutual friend Emily for introducing me to this awesome couple. Thanks so much. I want to thank Kevin C for always having my back and being the second pair of creative eyes. Minh and Laurence, sincere thanks for having us capture your wedding / anniversary. Welcome back and here are some pics to visually story tell your amazing day.

Your Friend,

Leon
