Bump to Beautiful Baby // Welcome Baby L

I still remember the first time I met L&J for their first maternity shoot.  What was awesome about that session was the fact that L went into labour and had their beautiful son A that same night… crazy…if we only knew.. I would have stuck around to get a true newborn session =)

I’ve been lucky and honoured since then with L&J have called me to capture their family at various stages… and it’s always amazing to see them as we also get to hang out as friends too and play catch up.   So when L sent me that email to let me know she was expecting again… I was super excited for them.

For the mat shoot… I showed up at L&J’s place first to start off with some pics of her before J and her son joined us.  As always, it was a warm welcome and L offered me everything from her kitchen to make sure I’m fed =)  We used some spots around her neighborhood and then headed over to the same spot where we did their first maternity shoot.. but this time with her son and J.

Now.. fast forward a month after and welcome their beautiful daughter L =)  What a cute and perfect family!  We started off taking some solo pics of her and worked our best to get some family shots in after.  In between feeds.. it was fun just chatting up with J.

To my friends L&J, Gi and I can’t be happier for you guys.  Thank you guys for the constant support and granting me the honour to capture all these sweet life stages for your family.  Love you guys.

Leon

The First Two Weeks … Meeting Baby K Out West

Talk about perfect timing.  Summer is tough for us in terms of trying to have a social life and for personal travel … since it’s our peak season for shoots.  So in the beginning of the year we booked and blackedout a weekend in August to go to one of our favorites cities –Vancouver.   And what perfect timing it was .. since we got to meet little K.. Otherwise we would be like the rest of their close friends and hope for updated pics on FB to see this cute fella.

Everything about this shoot makes me happy.  The fact that C&D are parents, meeting Baby K, being able to do this for them, going out to lunch afterwards and just hanging out.   What’s also cute was about this shoot… was the towards the end.. we squeezed in a few shots of best friends together with their best accessories, I’m pretty sure Nacho and Bean are going to be best friends too growing up.  (I hope you guys don’t mind… if a same sex married couple asked if we ever done same sex family pics.. I’m showing them the last pic.. hehe)

C&D, Gi and I can’t be happier for you both. Your son is adorable and we now have one more reason which makes Vancouver one of our favorite cities.  Love and miss all you Vancouverites.

Happy Anniversary Family Session

There are two things that I loved about this session.   First, the thoughtfulness aspect, as this family lifestyle session was an anniversary gift to my friend’s parents.  I said this before and being totally not bias… I think getting a family portrait done is so sentimental and tough logistically to get everyone together.   Even on my end, I’ve been trying to coordinate my family to do a shoot…and it’s impossible   (say that with a French accent)

The second thing I love about this session is my friend M is a fellow Mary Ward’er…  I totally love seeing people from back in the good fun days.   For this session, it came into segments, as M’s brother family joined us and of course M’s parents came too.  Its was pretty cute seeing them all dressed up and they where totally natural in front of the camera with each other.

Having all their kids was definitely a work out for my eyes and camera.. trying to keep up with them all.  We worked the grounds of Unionville main street and just had some fun with the family. Our last stop in the shoot was probably everyone’s favourite location as you’ll see in the pic…ice cream!

To my friend M, I totally appreciate the support and for gifting this session to your parents.  Here are a few pics from the day.  Thanks again,

Fellow Mary Ward’er Friend,

Chrystille & Edward Married // The Bellevue Manor

Happy Friday everyone!  So…we have been crazy and thankfully busy with editing, meetings, shooting and adding something different to the mix.  Working with our close and talented friends from Freshly Diced with this whole look you see.  This was an exciting process for us… where we left our brand in the hands of a talented artist and we’re loving the outcome.  But enough about us… my long awaited post begins now.   To the main event… Chrystille and Edward’s awesome wedding.   I remember the first time I met this couple, a year back when our mutual friend and their wedding coordinator Katheen intro’d us.   After meeting with them.. I was keeping my fingers crossed that we would get to have this opportunity as a) Chystille and Edward are such good peoples.. and b) Gi and I get to work with Kathleen =)    So needless to say.. we were thrilled to have the opportunity when we got the go ahead.

Gi and I started off at the hotel that they were both getting ready (as we noted in the past, we love when couples do this… just for the sole fact we get to take one car.. which means I get to eat while gi drives…hehe).  That morning and pretty much until 5 pm.. it was POURING rain! You know how they say on the wedding day when it rains it means wealth and good luck… if that is the case you guys are going to be loaded =)   For us, we didn’t mind the rain for pics as we had an indoor rain contingency booked.  As we got to the room, Gi and I jumped back and forth between floors sharing the captures of the guys  and girls.   After they all got ready (everything looking fab for that matter) Gi and I kept in close contact to make sure that Edward wouldn’t run into Chrystille at the hotel as they wanted to keep the first reveal when Chrytille walks down the church aisle.  At the church, it was pretty cute as you’ll see in the pics when Edward was in the corning facing the wall..hehe.

The ceremony was perfect we grabbed our umbrellas  to meet the bridal party at Brickworks.   Chrystille and Edward had a good sized wedding party and this group was fun times to work with.  At Bellevue Manor, the rain finally stopped which gave us the opportunity to do some family pics outdoors.   Chrystille and Edward set the tone for the night with their fun first dance and it was a party all night.

To my new friends, Chrystille and Edward, congratulations again on your amazing journey (15 years!!) together leading up to this perfect day.  Gi and I are thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of this amazing day.  Here are just a few pics to visually story tell your day as we edit the rest.

Your Friend, Leon

Anet & Vic Married! Presidente Banquet Hall Wedding

I really looked forward to their wedding for more reasons then the obvious. Getting to know Anet and Vic throughout the year leading up to their wedding…it’s quite obvious that this couple is totally meant for each other.  So, like the bride and groom, I was also counting down the days till their big day.  I was stoked because I would get to see my co workers… fine... not really co workers per say.. more like old co-workers..aka old wedding clients.   This is the fantastic part of having clients that are mutual friends with new clients…yes, this is the closest thing to co workers this husband and wife team gets =)

Anet looked gorgeous when I got to her parents place in the AM where she was getting ready with all her bridemaids. Family and friends kept pouring in and out, smiling and laughing.  I loved the sentimental touches with this wedding - as you will see in the pics…..One of the greatest parts was the unique necklace that Anet’s Dad made for her.  Right before the bus came to grab the family, the door knocked and Anet was greeted by family from Vic’s side of the family… what a high energy event this was!

When we got to the Church, I heard Gi from the parking lot .. shooting the guys in the back of the church (photographing .. would be a better choice in words..hehe) and when I met up with her and Vic… I realized what a fun bunch of dudes this group was.  Gi stayed outside with the Anet and her Dad and I headed in the church.  Looking back at the pics now, I loved the moments captured on Gi’s end of the bride and father before coming in.  The ceremony was perfect and we headed off to Glendon College campus to get some pics in before the rain hit.   Actually.. the tail end of our shoot we were out when the rain started… but given that Anet and Vic had such easy going personalities..  it didn’t bug them one bit.

Walking into the hall for the first time was where the little details shined.   From edible chocolate table cards to football guestbook’s.  Not sure why.. but something tells me Vic likes the Steelers =) The night was fill with great speeches, fun energy and tons of dancing.

We want to thanks Bernadette and Jessica from Serendipity & Co. Inc. To my friends, Anet and Vic… Thanks so much guys for having Gi and I on your big day doing what we love.  You guys are awesome. Here are a few pics to visually story tell your day.

Your Friend, Leon
