Soon to be a family of 4 // J&S+ Big brother to be

I could not be happier for this wonderful family.  I got the chance to know them when J was pregnant with A.   It felt just like yesterday we did their maternity session and their adorable newborn shoot of their son.  So I was thrilled to get the message from J that she was expecting again and we booked in a time a few weeks back to do this fun maternity + family session.   We chose the beach as the location, as it was the perfect spot given that they used to spend a lot of time there and they were having a summer baby.   The backdrop and feel worked out perfectly.  When J&S and A arrived… holeee smokes… I couldn’t believe how cute and big A has grown (captain obvious says “of course Leon.. the last time you saw him, he was only few days old..haha)

As much as I love documenting life stages and especially these maternity sessions, it’s just that much more adorable when there is a child in the mix.  As you see in the photos below, we had some fun with the fam.. and if I was big brother A, I would enlarge some pics and hang them in the house as a reminder =)

To my friends J&S, thank you guys both for the ongoing support and having me document this awesome lifestage in your family.  You guys are wonderfully blessed!  I can’t wait to meet the new addition to the family.  Here are a few pics from our shoot.

Can’t wait to meet you Nacho! Christina & Dan’s Maternity Session

From the moment I got the news from Christina  that she was expecting a while back… Man was I happy for the both of them. No doubt, Christina and Dan will make amazing parents.  I’m also thankful that they asked me to capture this life stage for them as it warms my heart personally.  It is a chance for me to look back and have the ability to say that I had the honour of capturing their wedding and now their maternity.  The awesome part was, the timing totally worked out for this shoot as they popped back into Toronto for her brother’s wedding.   These travelers partied it up for the wedding and were totally up for a shoot the next day.   Initially, I got a little overzealous with my location planning ... in my head I was thinking we can head over to beaches, then use the surrounding area… but as my tired pregnant friend suggested… lets head across the street to a local park where she grew up.  So that’s exactly what we did =)  Christina’s sister Andrea came along for the shoot as she was  helping Christina get ready initially and made some cameo appearances in their shoot =) As you can see, Andrea is crazy flexible and super talented.. check her out (here).   The shoot with was fun with Chris and Dan and I got to kill two zombies with one stone (don’t kill birds people.. not nice…)  as I got to spend time with them too.

To my friends Christina and Dan, Gi and I can’t wait to meet little Nacho.  Here are a few pics from our shoot. See you both in August. Much love guys.

Let the countdown begin! // Melissa & Pietro’s Lifestyle Engagement

Hope everyone has been enjoying this crazy hot weather and at the same time staying cool.  We’ve been in our serious editing mode these past few weeks and not for nothing, its nice to have warm sunlight in the studio during the day.  While we’re on the topic of hotness… lets get into Melissa & Pietro’s pics (a perfect segue in my opinion =))

There is one quote that I can’t agree more with and oddly enough, this quote comes from Slash (yes… Slash from G n R’s) He said, “half the battle is finding something that you love to do and the other half is enjoying it.”  So for me, the first part is easy and with the second half is even easier because of people like Melissa and Pietro.  From the my initial meeting with this awesome couple, they were so easy going and relaxed and this was definitely the same when it came down to our lifestyle engagement shoot.   So on the day of the shoot, we met up at Brickworks in the evening and worked our way through the beautiful surroundings.  On that note too, I give kudos to Pietro for being gung ho and ok to go anywhere as he was  recuperating from a recent leg surgery  (if I was in your shoes, I would be totally complaining=)).   Aside from the fact that both Melissa and Pietro are both incredibility photogenic, they were perfect in front of the camera as a couple.

To my new friends, Gi and I are totally excited for your big day. Here are a few pics from our session. Thanks!

Marianna & Mark Married! // Bellagio Banquet Wedding

Boys, boys, boys….when I drove up to Mark’s parent’s place I knew it was going to be a fun time with all the boys.   This is especially the case when I knew some of the boys from time and weddings past.  And of course these guys were not shy so it was definitely like a boys locker room that had all sorts of cologne being sprayed everywhere.  And of course, at the end of the day they all cleaned up well =)

I have been noticing a trend in our last couple of weddings.  The shoes…typically it is all about the girls shoes but these guys are matching the ladies with their stylish kicks.    Good thing this trend started after Leon and I got married..hehe….

The wedding was held at a church near where I grew up so it was definitely a fun blast from the past hanging out in my old neighbourhood.   The ceremony was at a beautiful traditional Egyptian Coptic Church.   I loved the crowns, the traditions, and the culture that was throughout the service.

Once the ceremony was over we went over to Edwards Garden for some fun shots.   This wedding party was up for anything so of course we asked them to work it out – And of course they did =)

Gi

From the early on set of doing business, there is one thing that I always believed in and put into practice with everyone - the process is just as important as the final result.  That being said, with Marianna and Mark they left such a good mark  (pun intended) in my memories on how great it was working with them from the initial time we met last year leading all the way to their wedding day.   They made the process so enjoyable for me working with this wonderful couple which Gi and I can both attest that it was good times.  I can’t stress and thank you both enough for being so on the ball, easy going, considerate, and thoughtful throughout this whole time.

So on the wedding day… I was kinda of jealous that Gi was with Mark and his dudes… since I knew those guys are all fun times.  I started off at Marianna’s place and the moment I walked in, I received a warm welcome from her parents.  All her girls where getting their hair and make up done in the basement and when I went up to see Marianna, she was super calm in her awesomely pink room which had her dress hung up (so as an example of the thoughtful and considerate couple...the night before Mark installed two hooks for the dress to make my life easier for pics..)

When we got to the Church, the ceremony was beautiful like Gi mentioned and as you can see in the pics, family and friends where extremely happy for them and as for Marianna and Mark, there was nothing but joy and laughter.   Mark mentioned to me the night before the wedding that he was got Marianna a surprise .. a gorgeous white Rolls.   So when the ceremony ended… Gi bolted out quickly to get her awesome reaction (as you guys will see in the pics below).   After having some fun with the whole wedding party (fun is the word) doing some pics at Edward Garden, we headed to the reception.  Walking in.. they had the place decorated amazingly, such attention to detail.  One personal thing I loved was that they enlarged a photo from our lifestyle engagement shoot for their guest to sign… and when I mean enlarge, I’m not talking about a 24X40 here.. we’re talking life size mounted on clear acrylic (I had to include a selfie to showcase the size of this)  One other memorable aspect of their wedding.. was their intro.. drummer, dancers and a room full of energy welcoming them in… every wedding show needs to roll in like this =)

To my friends Marianna and Mark, thank you both so much for having Gi and I capture your spectacular day.  You guys are truly such an amazing couple.  Welcome back from your honeymoon and here are just a few (hundred) pics to visually story tell your amazing day.

Your Friend, Leon

Celebrating 100 Days!

I thought it was so sweet when T emailed me about capturing her son for this special milestone, 100 days.  I arrived at T and P’s beautiful home where we started off capturing some cute solo pics of Baby L, working our way throughout the house.  Since the weather was good, we even got a chance to step outside to get some pics with Mother Nature.   What was pretty awesome was the fact that they had made a creative mural to mark Baby L’s 100th day… which worked perfectly for the pics.  One thing I have to mention was how incredibly well behaved Baby L was.  He totally loved the camera and made this session absolutely fun and super easy!  To my new friends, T & P, thanks so much for opening your home up to me and giving me the opportunity to capture your son at this adorable life stage.  Here are just a few pics from that fun day.

It’s a girl! Welcome Baby I + Family Lifestyle Shoot

What a crazy night in our city… hopefully everyone made it home safe. For the past few days we’ve been putting tons of time editing and processing pics… which came to a grinding halt with the power outage at 4pm yesterday… thankfully we’re back up and running this morning.  On that note for any inspiring photographers or serious hobbyist reading this… invest in a good UPS (uninterrupted power supply) it was a life saver for me yesterday.  Now to the main attraction…

Getting an email from V telling me she was expecting again was wonderful news.  I had the pleasure of capturing their first born and now was honoured again to capture their newest addition to the family… their beautiful daughter baby I.  When I got to their home, aside from the fact that it was great seeing them… I’m sure they were tired (as they all had large double doubles in hand) but they where totally ready for the shoot.  Baby I is so cute and she was great in front of the camera.  The fun part was, in between shots, we got to take some fun pics of their son whom is such a big little guy now (since the last time I saw him was a little after birth).  One of the cute parts about this shoot was the fact we replicated a shot that we did for their son’s newborn pics using the same Laos Rice cooker / holder.   To V and A, you guys have a beautiful family!  Thank you both so much for keeping me in mind for capturing this precious life stage.   Here are just a few pics from our shoot.  Thanks,

Your Friend, Leon
