Farica and Andrew’s Wedding Day Hawaii Part 2

Talk about an awesome wedding.   When we got back to Toronto, it’s amazing how so many people asked how was the wedding? Hawaii seem to be the dream destination for many… and take it from us, it was.  Farica and Andrew’s wedding was special to us as with all our wedding clients but this one was extra special.  I have known the groom’s family for many years to the extent… I ended up marrying into their family too (who would have thought eh Chang’s?)   Needless to say when Gi and I where asked to capture their wedding, we were super ecstatic and extremely honoured.

The wedding day started off with Gi and I splitting up as I drove to where the bride and her family were getting ready and Gi walked over to Andrew and his groomsmen.   The ceremony was gorgeous in every way and capturing Andrew singing his vows was heart warming.   Like every post, we’re much better at telling the story visually.  But as always, just wanted to give a few special thank you’s, starting off with some talented people: Patricia Lee and Leslie Fair for their artistry with make up… both extremely talented .  Ironically enough,  I’ve been following Patricia work before we met at this wedding =) To the cinamphotography team of Keith and Stan… such a blast working together (again) after all these years and wicked job on the SDE.   Last but not least, Farica and Andrew, thank you both so much for letting us be a part of your amazing week and letting us do what we love in capturing so many great memories.  Love you guys both.

Thanks, Leon

So I have a small family in Toronto but luckily enough all my cousins from my dad’s side are here.   So when my youngest cousin gets married it is a big deal.   Andrew is the baby of our family and I can only say it was an honour to be the photographers of this special occasion.   The wedding is everything you could have imagined in Hawaii, blue skies, beautiful clouds, outdoor wedding, a dreamy sunset and of course a gorgeous couple.   I would describe Farica’s style as classic, whimsical, and sophisticated.   And the wedding venue was exactly all of these qualities.   I could not help but feel the love in the air – vows were sung, tears were shed, and grandparents from across the country were represented at the wedding.  There was so much emotion in the wedding and to me that is what really made it perfect.

Farica and Andrew’s Festivities Part 1 // Hawaii Luau

To get everyone together before the wedding day, Andrew and Farica set up a fantastic Luau for all of their guests.   I have never been at a Luau before so this was very interesting and exciting for me.   The entertainment was fantastic with the Chief who kept the crowd excited – it seemed like he took some notes from Leon’s playbook as he definitely had a special “humor” to him =P   We got a taste of some authentic Hawaiian food, tattoos, and of course crazy hula dancers.   The fun part of this private luau was that the Chief pulled the audience up on the stage to show their moves.  I must say these wedding guests can definitely shake their hips with the best of them.   Of course, one of the best highlights ended the show with a fire display. They moved so fast and threw the fire around like it was nothing but you could feel the heat.  Not sure how you could top a luau like the one we got!  Thanks to Andrew and Farica for giving us the best excuse to get together – your wedding  =)

Gi

I can’t believe its been over a week since the awesome events that took place in Hawaii. Back to Toronto for us as our tans peel away in this cold weather.  We documented the various events that took place for their wedding, starting off with the Luau.   Gi and I have never been to one before, so this was pretty exciting stuff for us with the actual event being even better then we could have imagined.  I know Gi just went into the details of the event so I’ll let the pics do the talking… but before that, I also wanted to showcase some other captures as we were lucky enough to have some time to hang with the busy bride and groom before the luau.   We went around the island of Oahu to try out some of the must do’s and stopped off at some of the most gorgeous points on the island.  BTW, sorry about the rerouting to the destination… contrary to popular belief and my history with the groom… I’m not directionally challenged.. I just had a lot of back seat drivers =)

Here are a handful of captures to tell the story of this event from our amazing time in Hawaii.

Welcoming Baby C to our world! Congrats A&T

Our weekends are pretty much like this…. Saturdays are high level, fast paced,  the time of your life weddings..  while Sundays are slow paced, relaxing, capturing precious moments like this beautiful newborn session  with A&T.

This session was great as little C was totally cooperative in front of the camera.   We usually bring along a suitcase full of stuff for these newborn sessions but at the same time, kind of the first thing Gi and I do is keep our eyes peeled for props that we can incorporate from the home.   That being said, we found some fun stuff to creatively use for pics and some sentimental items too.  To my new friends, A&T,  thank you guys so much for giving us this opportunity to capture your son at this sweet stage in his life.  Here are just a small handful of pics from our session.

Diane and Paul Married!!!

No words can describe how happy I am for Diane and Paul on their wedding day.  I have known Diane for years as we have kept in touch since elementary school.  Speaking of elementary school, I was forewarned by Diane on her wedding day not take a capture any pictures of her elementary days that were hanging on the wall =)    Thank you, Diane and Paul for giving Gigi and I this opportunity to capture your day.  It was truly enjoyable and an honour for me to do this for my long time friend.

The pics will tell the story, but I just want to make note of some key events.  Hats off to Andrea, Diane’s maid of honour for making everyone look amazing in the morning and being in the wedding party.  To Lucas’s speech…  one word : AMAZING.

Leon

Paul and his boys were at the hotel getting ready and they were both handsome men and cute boys.   I must say that Paul’s groomsmen gift was totally unique and creative – a homemade crate with each of their names filled with goodies.  It was great for me too because it was also the perfect prop  =) .   I have to add that Paul’s best man was the cutest of all the boys, his son Lucas was nervous and proud.  You could feel the love between this father and son duo, especially in his speech when he teased his dad and showed him what a grown up young man he had become.

I must say one of the things that totally impressed me was that Paul’s groomsman not only sang and played the piano for the wedding.   But what was most impressive of all is that he did this with a broken finger.   Now that’s love – and this couple definitely deserves it.

Animal Party!!! A “Wild” Third Birthday

This entry is coming from 25 thousand feet up in the air as I figure there is no better time to play catch up with some of the amazing events we’ve been capturing in the past month while on a plane heading back to Toronto… thank gawd Gi’s sitting beside me, since I’m the only person with the light on and this woman can sleep through anything =)

To the main event: Z turns 3.  I love seeing this family and I’m thankful every year to get that call to capture another milestone year of this little man.  The wicked part is that Z’s parents own a day care and they always have the most creative events for their son.  Like every year, the entertainment was wicked!  The team at “zoo to you” came in and it was awesome – the birthday boy, the kids, parents and the photographer truly enjoyed this event =)

I’ll let the pics visually story tell this great day and kudos to the kids for not being scared of the tarantula… as the big kid with the camera was petrified inside =)  Wishing my little man Z a big happy belated 3rd birthday and sincerely thanking R&A letting me capture these events every year.

Hawaii Destination Wedding / Aloha!!

Aloha everyone!  So we’re in Hawaii right now prepping for a destination wedding.   Prior to coming here, Gi and I have been having the time of our lives capturing some amazing events – it has been hectic but then again, for anyone who knows the both of us, we wouldn’t want it any other way =)  Our week started off with capturing a wedding that is dear to my heart. The bride is one of my oldest friends and after 13 hours of awesomeness I was on a plane to Vancouver the next morning for a lifestyle session shoot and then back on a plane to Hawaii!

So how’s Hawaii?  I think that is a loaded question … it’s almost the same as asking someone that owns a Lambo… so how’s the car?   You kind of know the answer to expect =)   But seriously, this island is absolutely gorgeous.   The past few days have been scout days for us, checking out the island and getting ourselves familiar with locations and bouncing some idea’s back and forth between me and the Gi’ster for creative.   We drove around the Island (3 times may I add…should have brought a GPS)  and found sooo many spots we would LOVE to use.   Anyways, here are just a few pics taken with our Fuji X100 to give you guys an idea of what we have been seeing with our eyes.   I’m really excited to share our adventures (how do I say a dozen entries behind) so definitely stay tuned =)  As they say here… Mahalo!
