How were your Holidays?

I can’t believe it’s December 28th….c-r-a-z-y… I hope everyone had an amazing holiday.    We got a little bit of down time before our season kicks in again in January, so we figured we would squeeze in some personal entries.   Since, of course, we have spent the year documenting everyone else =)

Christmas day for us was all about family and we loved every minute of it.  The morning we hosted my side of the family and at night we got to spend time with Gi’s side of the family – whom are pretty much as close as family to me as well.  I have known her whole family loooong before I met Gi.  Ironically enough, Gi’s cousin Keith is someone I worked with 10 years ago…and he played a huge role as both a business and a creative mentor for me…. and now we’re family which is pretty cool.  So needless to say… we spent a lot of time chit chatting about photography and playing with his kids.  So the pimp part of the night was getting a chance to head off to the fire station as we thought little J would love it… which he did… but in the pics… you’ll see a taller girl having more fun in my opinion.

Like the saying goes … shoe maker kids has no shoes…   Keith here are a few pics that includes you and the family… weird being on the other side of the camera no?  hehe…

M + C & little L /// Family Lifestyle Christmas Session

Funny how small a world it is, M had asked Leon and I take pictures of her Little L after seeing the pics of Little K  HERE .  You see these two little girls have the same birthday…and their parent’s have the same anniversary date…Now that is a small world.   I went to school with both M and C so it was great to see them,  their little girl..and of course their beautiful home.

It took a while to get little L to warm up to us.  Her parents have trained her well, she doesn’t like strangers especially boys..  hehe..sorry Leon, I definitely got more love than you =)  But after a little coercing, some snacks, and clowning around,  little L started getting comfy.  I must say laughter and shopping carts always go hand in hand, especially for little girls.

If we do another shoot, we will definitely will need to do dim sum first :)

Welcoming Newborn Baby E to our world!

We got to A and V’s house and saw A by the car.  Apparently he had to go back to his parent’s house to get a very important prop for the pictures.  You see, A and V seen this post  HERE and also are mutual friends and they wanted to use a traditional Laos prop as well.   Who needs babies in baskets when you got sticky rice holders =)

A and V had just moved into house after the birth of little E which made the setting perfect as it gave us a lot of room to work with.  And they had painted a super cute mural on the wall with a cool Totoro, what little baby boy wouldn’t love that?

We hope you guys have caught up on some sleep and can’t wait to see what little E will be doing next!

Gina & Sam’s Wedding – The Day after /// Trash the Dress

Oh man… looking back at these pics 2 weeks later they still put a smile on my face.  Gi and I had a blast with Gina and Sam as we captured so many different parts of their wedding week.  By the end of the trash the dress shoot, we were all wet and covered in sand but the fun factor was so worth it.   Funny enough, I finally got a chance today to fully unpack our equipment bag and probably cleaned out enough sand to make a mini sand castle...hehe

Gina and Sam… you guys rock for willing to do anything we asked!  Here are just a handful of our favorites to tell the story of the day after shoot =)

Enjoy!

Gina & Sam’s Wedding Day – Punta Cana!

One of the many things I love about weddings is how we get to know the close friends and families of our couples.  Spending a week with Gina and Sam was an experience like no other, as we truly got to know all their wonderful friends and family day in and day out.  From the moment we got to their home in the early morning on Saturday we were greeted like family.  Over the next 7 days, that bond grew as Gi and I got to know everyone.    Gina and Sam are such great and sincere people.  For me, I’ve known Sam for a long time and went to high school with the both of them.  When they contacted me last year about this opportunity I was excited to just see them and then when they invited Gi and I to capture their day it was truly an invite from the heart. They really kept things simple for us from the get go… by basically saying… here’s the date… and stressed to me that they really wanted us to enjoy… and treat this as much as we can as vacation.

Spending 7 days with Gina and Sam, I can write forever about our amazing experience but we did our best to document a bit of each day as you rewind into the past entries.  So before I let the pics tell the day of their wedding, I wanted to sincerely thank Gina and Sam for not the obvious of having us be a part of this amazing experience, but for your kind hearts, both your appreciation, coordinating this 7 day party (trust me people… destination weddings are not an easy thing to do) and treating Gi and I like family.   As Gi and I captured and watched all of your friends and family truly enjoyed themselves for throughout the trip… I can’t agree more as Sam was right in his speech… this trip was Gina’s plan all along, a forced vaca…to take a step back from our hectic lives and to make sure everyone had the time of their lives… and that goal was MET!  We love you both and we’re so honoured to be a part of this event.  Hope you guys are having a blast on your honeymoon and you guys ROCK for leaving us that awesome voice message =) Here are just a few pics to tell the story on your wedding day.

Gina and Sam’s Wedding in Punta Cana!! Day 6 & 7

I’m lost for words on how exciting and fun it has been for us this week, especially last night with the wedding and today’s “trash the dress” session…(I’m going to do a proper post when we get back).  Gi and I are currently exhausted, sand filled and salt water soaked from their after shoot …. but we freaking had a blast!!!  For me… bucket list check… as I ALWAYS wanted to kill it on the beach with a couple and today was that day for me.   I truly love these guys… and what’s even more awesome was having their family and friends watch and cheer us on today for this aftershoot… Ok.. I’m jumping the gun on this entry as I just want to show one pic.. Ok.. 2…. OK fine….3

Awesome, awesome day.  Stay tuned when we get back for a full post of their wedding…
