Diane and Paul Engaged!!! + Pics of little M

I say this all the time and I truly mean it when I say, we are honoured to document the landmark moments of our clients. There are no words that can best describe our reactions when we get the go ahead.

For Diane and Paul, this is definitely how I felt.  You see, Diane is one of the few people that I have known since elementary school and have kept in touch with throughout the years.  So to have this opportunity to be a part of her wedding next year felt right for us.

Their session started with Gi and I capturing some fun pics of their cute daughter M at the request from Grandma.   Right after that, the four of us headed downtown to begin our session.  Gi and I wanted to incorporate a little of everything, since they gave us the creative freedom to go buck wild.  What I love about both of them, aside from them being super photogenic in front of the camera, is the fact that they are up for anything… see the pics of them in Lake Ontario =)

To my long time friend Diane and new friend Paul, here are some pics from our session!  We can’t wait for the wedding next year!

Happy Birthday Gi!!! Weekend of Painting and BBQing

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!  Our weekend was action packed with fun shoots on Friday and Sunday but not Saturday since I marked down that day for Gi’s B-day bash!!!    The festivities started out at Paint lounge in uptown Markham near Warden and Hwy 7.  For those of you who have not been there before, this place is awesome.  Basically… it’s a café / lounge with areas set up for painting on canvases.  They provide everything you need to paint… and you just let your creative juices run wild.  (Check out their website at http://www.paintlounge.ca)

I chose to paint a pic of Gi when she was a baby….as you will see below… Gi is still currently hating  my rendition  of her pic...LOL!!!  The night portion was at our home… BBQing all night long and hanging out.   I just want to thank everyone that came out to celebrate Gi’s B –day as I know hanging with her friend means the world to her.  I also want to send a special Thank You to Crystal for the AWESOME cupcakes she made (forgive me for dropping my request last minute sister) J+H for the ever so necessary fruit flan cake they bought and Samantha from Paint Lounge for hosting our days event – super awesome place!

As always, here are some pics (taken with my super fun Fuji X100..hehe) to tell the story…

Stella and Mike Engaged!!!

This year has been a great year for me because I’ve been contacted by a lot of high school and even elementary school friends for photography.   I haven’t seen them in the longest time and it is always good times seeing everyone and where they are now.

Mike is a high school friend of mine and is one dude who always made me laugh.  So it was a given that their lifestyle session was going to be good times…which, of course, it was =)  We started off our session at the Toronto Islands, I figured this would be great location since Stella had previously mentioned that she wanted a beach feel.  We ended off the evening incorporating some pics with Mike’s beast of a Harley.

To Stella and Mike, I had a blast with the session and we are super stoked for the upcoming wedding.  Here are just a handful of pics from our day… enjoy!

P.S  To the other Mike, thanks for all your help =)

Oregon to Toronto – Family Session

I do miss working for   “corporate” sometimes… especially on those 18 hour edit days that I’ve been having lately =) Mostly what I miss about corporate are the great friends / colleagues I see on a day to day basis… (and having health benefits was good times too =) )

Kim is an example of the good people I met when I was in corporate that made everyday more enjoyable. I got an email from her telling me she lives in Oregon now and was popping back by Toronto to visit for a week and wanted some family session pics done.  This was awesome since it gave me a chance to see her after all these years and her little kids (that are not so little anymore =) )

The weather didn’t work in our favor as it was raining and a reschedule wasn’t going to happen since they were only in town for a week… so like always, work with what you got and make it happen =)

Kim, it was really great seeing you and the family!  Thank you so much for keeping me in mind for this shoot and if Gi and I pop by your city, we’ll do a shoot there!  Here are just a small handful of pics from our session… the rest is on its way to you!

Little B’s First Birthday Party

J&S asked us to take some pictures of the big birthday bash of Little B’s first birthday.  It was a chance to get together some family, friends, and tons of kids.  Great for us to since the L family is one that Leon and I have worked with many times and we can say are our good friends.

Now when you think of a 1 year old party, you typically think of it as a party for the parents.   But I must say, this was definitely a party that made sure the kids were having tons of fun.  It was an all out adventure where J&S put tons of effort to make this 1st birthday extra special.  The room was decorated with safari animals and there were great stations for all the kids.   I mean, there was a station for colouring, making crowns, and even a swimming station (made of plastic balls).  And as if that wasn’t enough, they even had a clown come to the party!  She not only painted faces but made everything imaginable with balloons. I had birthday parties when I was a kid but this was definitely an all out bash.

The piece de resistance of course was the cake.   It was a classic cake that J&S decorated themselves, which I think was super cute and matched the theme perfectly.   Little B is not only lucky that he has parent’s who love him but also ones that are super creative.

Being a kid is just so much fun as you can see in the pics.

Jeanette & Brian’s Lifestyle & Engagement Session

I love these sessions since we always get to know our couples and always have tons of fun. Jeanette and Brian are a truly cute couple together.  Just as we ask every couple “what is special to you guys and what would you want to incorporate with your engagement shoot?”… Bang…. We got a list =)  These two are seriously active =)

So for their session, we did our best to incorporate who they are and what they do.. a true lifestyle approach.  Gi and I like Jeanette and Brian a lot….because they’re like us in the sense that they love sports and outdoors stuff…. OK fine.. they are a lot like my wife.. but still point being… we like them… hehe.   Gi and I had a blast that day and like I mentioned before, it was great getting to know them both.  To my new friends Jeanette and Brian, here are just a handful of pics for our day.  I can’t wait for your big day this year. I also wanted to send a special thank you to Kathleen for this kind referral =) merci times 1000.
