T+F+A / Family Lifestyle Session

I really like doing family lifestyle sessions.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t enjoy all the other aspects of photography, but something about these family lifestyle session just get me excited…for me its cool watching parents interact with their kids and kids are just so darn cute, which makes it easy to please the client  :).  On the flipside my wife thinks its my paternal clock ticking… and that I’m living vicariously through these clients… hmm…oh whatever Trevor..

T&F were referred to me by two of my awesome friends, Vien and Jim where I also met T&F before, at their dinner party – Thank you guys for the referral! T+F&A are a beautiful family as the pics below will show.  This was a fun session and it is always great to be the fly on the wall capturing real family moments.  Thank you guys the great session, here are a handful of my personal favorite pics.

Nasim & Andrew Lifestyle Session

I think yesterday or the day before was the official day of summer but I remember when Gi and I shot Nasim and Andrew’s lifestyle session a few weeks back, it was HOT!!!  For this shoot, we started off where we first met last year.  It was near Mel Lastman Square and we basically used the surrounding area.  Nasim and Andrew are totally good times in the sense that they are easy-going and quickly warmed up for the camera as we got into our session.  As their wedding is in a few weeks, I’m looking forward in capturing their big day.  Here are a handful of shots from their lifestyle session.  Congrats and thank you both for having us document your big day!

Fusia Magazine – The making and the final result

For those that know me well, EVERYTHING I do in life is fueled from passion first.  For me, the best advice I will give to anyone is that you have to be passionate about what you do, and the rest WILL come. I know that sounds so cliché, but its the formula has worked for me.  For example, with the wedding side of my business, if you think about it logically, being on your feet for 16 hours plus, editing all day and night, and giving up every single weekend is really not about the money, but its cause I truly freaking love it.

Last year when I met Meera Solanki, I saw that same fuel in her eyes when she was explaining to me the concept of Fusia Magazine. Everything she said on why she wanted to start this magazine was based off passion – I like.  When she commissioned me to be the official photographer for the magazine, I was honoured and excited. The shoots for this magazine was divided into various session throughout the year.   I had the awesome opportunity to meet Sitara Hewitt twice, once for the interview shoot and then for the cover.  The concept of the various interior (ad) spreads was inspired by Gi and my trash the dress session, which involved graffiti walls and an urban background   Since I’m always interested in “the making” or “behind the scenes” of movies and ads, I thought I would showcase some images I shot for Fusia Magazine.  You guys can see the complete final results by picking up a copy right now at your local Chapters/Indigo!  I’m personally excited to see a copy, since I’m out of Canada right now.

Special thanks to Meera and Jon for the awesome opportunity, The School, for the location shoot, all the awesome models, Minal Kharkar for her fantastic design skills and working along side the talented make up and hair person, Malinda Noronha for making my job easier. I can’t wait for the next edition of Fusia!

Z+A+R Family Lifestyle Session

I really, really like doing these family lifestyle sessions. For me, I’ve been extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to be commissioned to photograph all aspects of photography from architectural, events, celebrities, furniture, lifestyle & weddings… but these family lifestyle sessions are a special for me.  It’s like saying you are a mechanic working on different cars all the time and once in a while you get to work on an Aston Martin… that how I feel about these family lifestyle sessions… did that make any sense at all?  OK, I’ll stop rambling….

Z+A+R family session was a blast. Really great energetic family! Little Z is super cute and a natural in front of the camera.   Here are some pics from their awesome session.

Z+A+R, thank you for the Aston Martin :)

Nadia & Jacky Lifestyle Session

Jacky and Nadia are good friends of both Gi and I, so its always nice to kill two birds with one stone with this lifestyle session, - hanging out with friends and taking pics.  We had fun with this shoot, as you will see in pics below….

When we plan these lifestyles session, I usually ask if there is any particular spots or time of the year that the couple would want to incorporate.  Chatting with the bride to be, she told me she would love to have their shots include the blooming cherry blossoms. Of course I aim to please.  We scouted the location based on some research and a few days before their shoot, I went to storyboard the shoot.  Looking outside at the winter trees and flowerless gardens that were bare, I was saying to myself that there was no way the cherry blossom trees had bloomed, but nonetheless, I drove downtown to High park to check it out.   When I got downtown, to my surprise it was like cherry blossom city!! Crazy…  morale of the story, never make assumptions :)

I’m always humbled when friends, such as Jacky and Nadia, provide me with the great opportunity to document their day.   So thank you both and enjoy the pics!  Look forward to your big day!
